On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of december, the I Congresso n Defense of Competition was held in Ouro Preto, MG. The event promoted by the Order of Attorneys of Brazil gathered specialists to debate important subjects from the antitrust law and to honor a few names. Furthermore, several panels and roundtables were held to discuss subjects such as competition and the Brazilian Judiciary Branch, competition and regulations, abuse of regulatory power and competiton advocacy, among several others of great relevance for the contemporary setting.
Among the honored were Alexandre Cordeiro, president of CADE, the attorneys João Bosco Leopoldino da Fonseca, José Inácio Gonzaga Franceschini, Pedro Zanotta and Ubiratan Matos, the professors Isabel Vaz and Tércio Sampaio Ferraz, and Laércio Farina, whose proeminent contribuition earned him vast recognition. The event was held by the OAB from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Santa Catarina and Ceará.
